I use to see her every morning at 6:30am from my balcony doing yoga with her husband and reading books for him in the park. One fine morning I introduce myself and my husband to her. She had one in a million smile to win the hearts of many. A versatile personality in her eighties, wife of retired Squarden leader from Air Force.
Then for a while I got busy with my work and we relocated at a different place. Where l could not hear any thing from her for almost 2 years.
This year I met her again in some common friends gathering, I asked her, where is uncle….she told me he passed away last year…I felt sad to know that.!!! I took a long pause and kept quiet for a while.. then I asked her how does she pass her time now…and the reply was really inspiring which shook me from toe to head, she said that she has enrolled for two diploma courses and taking care of uncle’s books that he had written and the paper work left behind, I was impressed! I didn’t had words to express my feeling about the courageous emotion that she just displayed through her glittering eye. A real inspiration for youngsters to follow. She proved that age is no bar at all if one wants to learn at any point of time! All you need is some inspiration, and even I believe this strongly !!!
Learning is a continuous process and the true learner always looks avenues to learn from anybody and everybody. There is no bar on learners age or the age of the teacher. People learn from their success, achievements and failure. Learning is possible at every stage of life.
A young child can teach you something which you may have not learnt till now. Similarly, every old and poor man can teach you something very new and important.

Absolutely keep learning and growing. And as you so wisely put it, age need not be a barrier. We are very blessed to have the whole of the internet to explore. There is virtually no interest that isn’t covered if you know how to search. Sometimes, even putting one word will net page after page of interesting information. What I loved most about your post however, is that you engaged with this nice lady offline. Connection with the world outside the internet can also be an uplifting experience. People are usually friendly when we are, and if we seek information, most people are happy to supply it. I especially enjoy engaging with seniors. They are a wealth of knowledge. They have lots of interesting memories to share, and I find them to be very engaging to talk with. I’m happy to connect with other human beings off or online. Being a life-long learner is right up my alley!!!

Hi positivesideofcoin,
This was an excellent post – I also believe learning is a continuous process and the true learner always seeks new avenues to expand upon their horizon.
I learn best from others’ success, achievements, and failures and strengthen my understanding and experience with challenges in real life. In my early adulthood, I did not like to learn as much because school was ‘one-size fits all’ but outside of school – learning in my own style is easier and I am grateful.
The internet is a powerful resource that I can get information or lessons from and I can find motivational blog posts as this one.
I have made a commitment to lifelong learning as I believe you have. Together, we can enhance our understanding of the world around us and also help to improve our quality of life and the quality of life for others.
Thank you for sharing this message.
